The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl continues to live up to
its reputation as "America's Most Exciting Bowl
Game." Last year's game was another thriller as
No. 15 Washington State Cougars upset the No. 5 Texas
Longhorns, 28-20, in the 26th Annual Pacific Life Holiday
Bowl. Again in 2004, the Pac-10 runner-up will face
a top team from the Big 12 Conference.
There's a beautiful symmetry to Qualcomm Stadium. It
has seen two Super Bowls, two MLB All-Star Games, two
Rolling Stones concerts and two U2 concerts. The World
Series has been played there twice. It has had two name
changes, from San Diego Stadium to San Diego Jack Murphy
Stadium in 1982 (many still call it "The Murph")
and to Qualcomm in 1997.
There is also a graceful symmetry in its spiraling ramps
- there are eight of them, supplemented by 12 escalators
and six elevators. You can get there from here, from
ground to the tip top and back again, easily and conveniently.
