Qualcomm is truly an all-purpose stadium.
When it opened in 1967 it immediately became home to the former
Los Angeles Chargers and the San Diego Aztecs football teams.
The San Diego Padres followed in 1969. The first Pacific Life
Holiday Bowl game was held here in 1978 (Navy 23, BYU 16).
Willie Mays hit his 600th home run at Qualcomm. It has seen
countless motocross and monster truck races.
For the Holiday Bowl, the stadium packs in 66,000. The parking
lot surrounding the stadium holds 18,500 vehicles and the
San Diego trolley, with connections to Mission Valley, downtown
and East County stops right at the gate.
